Earlier, on April 21, ILLIT took to Weverse Live to announce that ILLIT’s official name will be LILLY. However, fans expressed concerns that LILLY and LILLYs were too similar and overlapped with other names in the K-pop fandom.
On April 22, ILLIT’s agency, BELIFT LAB, addressed the issue by announcing that it will change the official name of the fandom through the following notice:
Hello,
This is BELIFT LAB.Firstly, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the incredible love and support you have shown to ILLIT.
We have an important update regarding the official name of the ILLIT fan club. Originally announced on April 21, the fan club name was selected from several candidates compiled with fan input, reflecting our desires for everlasting love between ILLIT and its fans.
However, we decided to revisit the issue after reviewing several concerns that arose. The name of the new fan club will be chosen from other pre-selected candidates and will be announced later. A naming contest will not be held this time.
We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused and thank you for your kind understanding.
