After many obstacles and a lot of denial on the part of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, the lead couple finally reconciles. This is followed by emotional and moving scenes involving their families, who learn of Hong Haein’s terminal illness.

However, their happiness is short-lived, as they need to find the secret fund hidden by Chairman Hong, who has been captured by his housekeeper. The search for the money becomes the couple’s new mission.

Another interesting story arc occurs with the return of Cheon Dahye, played by Lee Joo Bin, to the side of Hong Soocheol, played by Kwak Dong Yeon. The reunited family look for ways to bring justice to their fortune, but receive news of President Hong’s death.

Kim Ji Won and Kim Soo Hyun find the door that leads to the secret fund.

After completing President Hong’s last rites, the family returns to their rightful home in the hope of finally locating the secret fund that would turn the current administration upside down and give them the upper hand.

The previous week’s cliffhanger serves as a perfect build-up of tension, only to end in a huge disappointment as Mo Seul Hee (Lee Mi Suk) once again wins the battle of wits. And so the hunt continues for the huge sum of money that the mentor is keeping for her son, Yoon Eun Sung, played by Park Sung Hoon.

Kim Soo Hyun confirms that surgery could cure Kim Ji Won’s illness.

With this direction of the story, “Queen of Tears” consolidates itself as a sad love story that manages to fit into the romantic comedy genre, alternating between moments of despair and joy very smoothly, all thanks to its admirable cinematography and, without a doubt, great acting from the protagonists.

Baek Hyunwoo receives the good news that surgery is possible in Germany for his beloved ex-wife-turned-girlfriend-turned-wife, and she can be saved after all. But the problem is that she may lose all her memories.

Have Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won left the world of K-dramas for Indian daily soap operas?

What follows is possibly the most questionable sequence of scenes, as suddenly the terminal illness disappears from Hong Haein’s body. Even after many promises exchanged between the two and an unread diary awaiting Baek Hyunwoo’s attentive interest, fate turns against the pious couple. The events make me laugh to the point of wondering if the script was written by someone like India’s famous Ekta Kapoor.

It reminds me of a moment in my childhood when I burst into a dance knowing that my favourite character had recovered his memories. That’s exactly what viewers expect from the programme now, and I don’t know whether to be happy or sad about it.
